Three events not to miss this summer in Chamonix

It’s a world-class ski resort in winter, but summer in Chamonix is just as impressive.

As well as all the outdoor activities on offer, summer in Chamonix is full of impressive events you’ll want to attend.

Here are three of the best not to miss…

Climbing World Cup

Taking place from 12 to 14 July, this is one of the biggest climbing events worldwide.

Over three days, the best climbers on the planet will take on a huge outdoor climbing wall, constructed specially for the occasion.

Qualifiers take place during the day with the finals in the evenings. Find out more information on their website.

CosmoJazz

Lovers of Jazz will want to be in Chamonix from 22-27 July when the ‘CosmoJazz’ festival takes place.

This festival takes over the entire Chamonix Valley with concerts on the mountain and in the town, as well as jam sessions every evening. Find out more on their website.

100th Fête des Guides

The centenary event of the famous mountain guide’s festival takes place from 12-15 August.

The first Guides’ Festival took place on August 15, 1924. A century later, the purpose of the festival remains the same: to celebrate the mountains in a spirit of sharing and solidarity.

This year’s events will include a special ceremony, parade, induction of new guides and will be great entertainment.

All profits from the Guides’ Festival are donated to the Relief Fund, which provides assistance to guides in difficulty.
